STEP 01

We talk

You tell us about your market, your competitors and the queries that count for you. We come away with the access we need and we measure your starting point: referring domains, domain authority, rankings.

STEP 02

We map your market

The backlink profile of every competitor ahead of you gets analyzed: where its backlinks come from, which referring domains carry weight, what content attracts them. The gap becomes a list of sites to win, ranked by impact.

STEP 03

We close the gap

Link-worthy content gets produced, guest posts get placed, editorial relationships open up. Every month, referring domains are added to your profile and the list gets shorter.

STEP 04

The phone rings

Rankings climb and clicks follow, measured against the starting point. Then the ground widens: the next query, the neighbouring market, the authority that makes every gain faster than the last.

Link building, explained in full

What a link is worth, how it gets earned and what it changes in your numbers: it is all here.

Link building is the most overrated lever in search, and the one where budgets get wasted fastest. Run properly, it is also the one that breaks the tie between two pages of equal strength. Here is how we run it, link by link.

Link building, also called link acquisition, covers the techniques that get other websites to publish a link to yours. Every backlink, meaning an inbound link placed on a third-party site, acts as a vote of confidence: it signals to search engines that your content is worth citing. That principle has underpinned Google's algorithm since PageRank, and domain authority is still built link by link today. In search engine optimization, this earned popularity remains one of the few signals a competitor cannot reproduce overnight. Link building is one of the four workstreams inside our SEO services, alongside content, technical work and local search.

Between two pages of comparable strength, the one receiving the better links pulls ahead in the search results. A solid backlink profile raises domain authority, and that authority carries over to every page on the site: positions climb, impressions follow, and the visibility gained converts into better qualified organic traffic. Links are among the signals we track in our study of 200 ranking factors, run on the web properties we operate ourselves, where every method is tested before it touches a client site.

Our rule, set by the team we founded in Montréal, fits in one sentence: every link earned has to leave a measurable trace in your rankings and in your Search Console. That is where results are read, in your data, not in an in-house report.

Not all links carry the same value: a link borrows the reputation of the site publishing it, so a backlink profile is judged before it is built. Five criteria decide the weight of a backlink:

  • Relevance: the referring site covers your industry, and the article citing you handles a subject close to yours
  • The authority of the referring domain: its own backlinks, its age and its rankings, read in the authority metrics in Semrush
  • The audience: a site with real readers and its own organic traffic passes more value than an empty domain name
  • The anchor: the clickable text describes the page it points to, with natural variation from one link to the next
  • The placement: an editorial link, set inside the body of an article, carries more weight than a footer mention

Diversity rounds the whole thing out: media outlets, industry blogs, recognized directories, partners in your field. Google assesses the backlink profile as a whole, and its guidelines reward links earned for their relevance.

A link building campaign is run like a land grab, one month after another: we go after the referring domains your competitors have already obtained, then the sites in your industry none of them has approached yet. Four levers do most of the work:

  1. Link-worthy content: guides, studies and original data that the sites in your market cite because the material is useful; producing them is the job of our SEO content team, and the articles on the blog play that role for our own queries
  2. Guest posts: content written for credible blogs and media outlets in your industry, published with an editorial link back to your site
  3. Editorial relationships: expert answers given to media and industry publications in Québec and Canada that are looking for sources, with a mention as the payoff
  4. Industry directories: a tight selection of listings Google recognizes, aligned with your industry and your region

Every referring site is assessed before first contact, every publication is verified once it goes live, and every backlink is added to your tracking report.

A link building strategy never works alone, because links amplify what already exists. A slow or badly indexed page scatters the authority you send it, so the groundwork belongs to technical SEO, which guarantees that every link points to a page Google crawls and serves without friction. Internal linking then distributes the authority it receives to the pages that convert. And when your customer base is geographic, the citations and regional links of local search round out the backlink profile with the signals the map expects.

Every link delivered is logged: the referring domain, the publication URLS, the anchor, the date. Tracking uses the same instruments as the rest of our mandates: Semrush for the backlink profile, the referring domains and the rankings, Google Search Console for clicks and impressions, Google Analytics for conversions, Screaming Frog for the state of the pages receiving the links.

That continuous measurement is what lets us put our guarantee in writing: 20% growth in ranking keywords, 20% growth in Search Console clicks and 20% more new customers in the month following the 90 days, or we keep working without billing. In three years, we have had to honour it once. Our case studies show what authority changes at the scale of a whole site: from invisible to global in twelve months, from under 10 clicks a month to more than 300 a day, with Search Console screenshots to back it up. Your starting point gets measured with a free SEO audit, backlink profile included.

Worth remembering: one relevant backlink, published on a real site and pointing to a healthy page, does more for your rankings than ten decorative links, and its effect shows up in your Search Console.

Link building sits inside our monthly mandates, and our ranges are published:

  • $1,500 to $2,500 CAD per month: local small business, single location, limited geographic market
  • $2,500 to $5,000 CAD per month: multi-service or multi-city company, strong organic competition
  • $5,000 to $12,000 CAD per month: ecommerce, SaaS or national market, with sustained content production

How much of that goes to links depends on three factors: the gap between your backlink profile and the profiles of the sites ahead of you, the authority of the domains to win in your industry, and the volume of content needed to deserve them. A tight budget starts small and aims well, since a few relevant links a month, measured, do more than a scattered avalanche. Reach us through the contact page and you will get an answer within 24 hours, with a measured picture of your backlink profile.

What is a link building agency and what does it do?

A link building agency builds the authority of a website by earning it quality backlinks. It analyzes the backlink profile, maps the competitors, produces the content, runs the outreach with referring sites and measures the effect of every link on rankings. It turns long, relationship-driven work into measurable progress.

What is a quality backlink?

It is an editorial link published on a site relevant to your industry, with real authority and a real audience, carrying an anchor that describes the page it points to. Google counts it as a vote of confidence, while links coming from questionable sites can trigger its penalties instead.

How long before backlinks have an effect?

A link usually takes a few weeks to be discovered and counted, and the cumulative effect of a campaign reads over several months. Link building is a long-horizon lever: the authority earned stays, and every new piece of content benefits from it.

How many links will I get per month?

The pace depends on your market and on how much of the mandate goes to links, and a few solid links a month are often enough to open a gap. Every link delivered appears in your report, with its referring domain and its anchor.

Can you do your own link building?

Yes, with time, analysis tools and a network of sites to build one contact at a time. An agency brings relationships that are already established, the content production and the measurement, and you keep your time for your business.

How do you measure the success of a link building campaign?

By how referring domains, domain authority, rankings and Search Console clicks evolve against the starting point. A report lists every link earned, and the curves tell the rest.

What is the difference between white hat and black hat link building?

White hat earns links through the quality of the content and through editorial relationships, within Google's guidelines. Black hat manufactures them in bulk through methods the algorithm eventually spots and penalizes. Our campaigns live on the first side: links earned on real sites, which hold up through algorithm updates.

How do you choose a link building agency?

Ask for three things: the list of links actually delivered to a comparable client, the sites where they were published, and the effect measured in Search Console. A good link building agency shows its links and its curves, and ours adds a written guarantee on top.

Your market publishes every day.

Every article is a chance for someone to mention you: the backlink audit is free, and the picture is measured.
